WHO WE ARE

Illuminate NC is a community-based organization dedicated to providing harm reduction services, companion care, and public health outreach across North Carolina. Our work focuses on meeting individuals where they are—offering practical tools, education, and support that reduce harm and save lives.

We operate at the intersection of public health and recovery, supporting individuals during critical moments while building pathways toward long-term stability.

WHAT WE DO

Our work is centered around two core areas:

Harm Reduction & Community Outreach

We provide naloxone training, overdose prevention education, and community-based outreach through partnerships with local organizations and public health agencies.

Companion Care Services

We offer professional, discreet support for individuals navigating treatment, early recovery, and high-risk transitions.

OUR APPROACH

We believe in a harm reduction approach that prioritizes safety, dignity, and connection. This means meeting people without judgment, building trust, and providing support that reflects the realities of addiction and recovery.

Our work is grounded in lived experience and informed by real-world understanding, allowing us to respond with compassion, flexibility, and effectiveness.

OUR MODEL

Illuminate NC operates as a service-based organization, allowing us to sustain and expand our impact through earned revenue and public health partnerships. This model supports long-term, consistent service delivery and reduces reliance on limited funding sources.

Our work also helps support broader recovery efforts through our nonprofit partner, Bob’s Way Recovery Center, a dedicated community space for individuals with lived experience of addiction.
