Illuminate North Carolina was founded with a simple but powerful mission: to break barriers to recovery and harm reduction, meeting people where they are with compassion, dignity, and practical support.
Born from lived experience and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals navigating substance use and recovery, Illuminate NC was created to fill the gaps in care—offering peer-led services, harm reduction resources, and access to treatment in rural and underserved areas.
In 2024, we expanded our impact with the launch of Bob’s Way Recovery Center in Henderson, NC. Named in honor of Bob Goodale, a lifelong advocate for recovery, Bob’s Way provides outpatient therapy while serving as a community recovery hub in the evenings, offering free wellness and support meetings.
Beyond clinical care, our work extends to harm reduction, sober companion services, and education, including the News of Hope: Naloxone Outreach Project, which distributes life-saving naloxone through accessible community-based boxes. We also provide trainings on overdose prevention and recovery support, equipping individuals and organizations with the tools to make a difference.
